No I’m not talking about running a 100 mile marathon, start mountain climbing, bungee jumping or trying to get by on one hour sleep a night, but something that many teenager’s have been doing for several years now. It’s texting, that’s right texting!
Now going back a few years ago when I still had a couple of
teenagers living at home and I got them cell phones, the first thing they
wanted was to text. Now mind you this was a “Phone” and they wanted to “Text”
because all there friend’s was doing it. I just scratched my head then about
this strong desire they had for texting and thought to myself “Teenagers” give
them something they can make calls on and they want it mainly for texting, GO
FIGURE!!!!!
Then as time went by I started to receive some texts message
from my family and friends and I thought are they trying to act like a teenager’s.
Now I did start trying to reply to some of those texts, and again I will say tried
because I had a hard time using the number keypad to spell words on the Moto
Razr I had at the time. But when I became eligible for an upgrade with U.S.
Cellular I got a Moto Q Smartphone that had a keypad that had numbers and “LETTERS”.
So I was now able to reply and send text messages with ease.
Since then I have upgraded my phone again with U.S. Cellular
to an Android Smartphone which makes texting even simpler because you can now
speak your text. That’s right, you can just say it and send it if you don’t
want to take the time to type it. Now how cool is that!
Although I now send and receive several text and picture
messages a month, I will have to admit that I still don’t come anywhere close
to the amount my teenagers would do monthly. But I have to say that I do enjoy
texting and being able to send a picture message. I do still talk on the phone
but having this option of texting is something that has become a part of daily
life style now.
So I give Thanks to all the teenagers for leading the way in
this new form of communication and teaching this older dog a new trick.
Ok, for the next new trick for me to learn…How about Bungee
Jumping….NOT!!!!! lol
